Staff Reporter, Edmonton, AB — June 28, 2025:
In a city where hockey often takes centre stage, Tennisfest 2025 proved that Edmonton has a thriving community of tennis enthusiasts of all ages. Held at the Edmonton Expo Centre, the event welcomed everyone—from energetic three-year-olds to spirited seniors in their 80s—offering them an opportunity to pick up a racquet, sharpen their skills, and simply enjoy the game.
Organized by the Edmonton Junior Tennis Society and Tennis Edmonton Association, the all-inclusive tennis camp drew hundreds of participants eager to try their hand at serves, backhands, and volleys. The festival was designed to engage people of all skill levels, from complete beginners to intermediate players, creating a fun and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.
“Singles or doubles? Powerful serves or consistent returns? Tennisfest put Edmontonians in the spotlight,” said one of the visitors. “We were thrilled to see such an enthusiastic response, especially in a city known for its love of hockey.”
The event offered more than just friendly matches. Experienced coaches led clinics and skill-building games across both mini and full-sized courts, giving participants hands-on guidance to improve their techniques. For many first-timers, the free tennis giveaways added extra motivation to pick up a racquet and give the sport a try.
One of the standout features was the Red Ball Tennis program, specifically designed for young children. Using low-compression red balls that bounce slower and lower than standard tennis balls, the program provided a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sport, helping kids build confidence and learn the fundamentals.
Parents, grandparents, and entire families turned out for the day, creating a vibrant community atmosphere that showcased tennis as a sport for all ages.
With perfect weather, smiling faces, and plenty of action on the courts, Tennisfest 2025 served up an ace—proving that in Edmonton, there’s plenty of love for tennis too.
The @edmontonjuniortennis and @edmontontenniscommunity have Fall Programs open to Register for both Kids and Adults in this facility.
